Situated in Technopark, Stellenbosch, our client Capitec Bank wished to create their new ‘home’ for their business in the Western Cape. The word Ikhaya, is of Xhosa origin and means ‘home’.

The project was initiated in 2016 and completed in late 2020. Planning Partners’ responsibility was to design the hard and soft landscaping to compliment the sleek modern building designed by DHK Architects.

The hard landscape design occurs mostly on the podium deck, above the underground parking facility, paving design mimics the organic shape of the building, contrasting muted greys as the colour palette.

Most planting occurs in structured planters, cladd in hand dressed grey stone, an all indigenous range of plants were used. Planting design revolved around improving the micro climate around the building, reducing the scale of the building and to create a year round, beautiful garden for the benefit and enjoyment of the Capitec employees.
